- Extremely slim and lightweight
- Bigger, high-refresh inner screen and cover screen displays
- Flagship-level 200 MP main camera
- Powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with Galaxy AI
- Very expensive, starting at $2,000+
- Battery capacity is average endurance

- Modest upgrades in some sectors over the Fold 6
The Fold 7 is Samsung’s thinnest and newest foldable, with a massively improved main camera. However, in most areas, the Z Fold 7 remains unchanged or only slightly improved, so it’s not worth $2,000. A good alternative is the Z Fold 6, which has most of the same specs as the Z Fold 7 for a hundred dollars less.
Have you ever wanted a foldable phone, but found them all too bulky? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 flips that script—it’s one of the thinnest foldables ever, a true marvel of design. But does this sleek profile come with trade-offs? At launch, some key drawbacks remain, meaning it still might not be the right choice for everyone. In this review, let’s find out if the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is really worth your attention—or your money.
Design/Build
The Z Fold 7 combines the portability of a normal phone and the screen real estate of a tablet/iPad. This phone made significant improvements compared to the last generation. For example, it became 26% thinner and twenty-four grams lighter than the Z Fold 6.
Also, the hinge has been redesigned, making the crease much less noticeable. The Armor Flex Hinge that's integrated is thinner than the previous generation and makes the Z Fold 7 strong but thin. However, one of my pet peeves is that S Pen support has been removed.
Like the creator, MKBHD said, even though the S Pen may not have been used by a substantial portion of people, a flagship phone is supposed to have all those trivial things.
Between you and me, what Samsung did is very annoying. Also, the main display, when unfolded, has increased from 7.6 inches to eight inches, offering 5% more real estate.
Display
Speaking of displays, the main display has innovative technology with a Dynamic AMOLED screen that shows 2K resolution. Along with that, the main display has a 120Hz display and up to 2,600 nits' peak brightness.
The main display also uses a thicker ultra-thin glass (UTG) and a titanium plate for added strength, and is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The cover display has all the same stats as the main display, with only two differences: a different aspect ratio and a 6.5-inch screen instead of an 8-inch screen.
Overall, the Z Fold 7 screen is one of the best screens on the market.
Performance/RAM/Storage
The Z Fold also has the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which is more efficient and faster than the chip in the Galaxy Z Fold 6. When compared to the rest of the market, it is better than most 2025 flagship chips. The Galaxy Z Fold offers 12GB RAM or 16GB RAM that works exclusively with the 1TB storage option. In terms of storage, there are also 256GB and 512GB options.
The RAM in the new Z Fold 7 uses LPDDR5X technology, which makes the RAM faster and more power-efficient than previous RAM types. This RAM version exceeds some RAM found in current 2025 flagship phones. The storage in the Z Fold 7 all uses UFS 4.0, which is the best version of UFS for high-speed data access and app loading.
One downside of the phone is that there's no option for microSD expansion, which is common for high-end foldables.
Software
This fold has the latest Android 16 and One UI 8. This offers Samsung’s latest AI features and productivity tools. Some features of the Samsung software include advanced split-screen, floating windows, and Galaxy AI. Especially its AI features, which are on par with current 2025 flagships.
Camera
The camera is one of the key highlights of the Z Fold 7. It has massively improved from 50MP to 200MP main sensor. The only other camera that has improved is the selfie camera, which has improved from 4MP to 6MP.
But don’t be fooled, this is a massive upgrade because now the main camera is among the best in the entire phone camera. However, the other cameras are all mid-level.
Battery/Charging
The battery and charging on this thing are decent, with the battery being decent, but the charging is bad. The capacity is 4,400 mAh, which is less than flagships that reach up to 5,000 mAh.
Also, the charging speed is only 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless, which can be three times slower than other phones.
Price
The Z Fold 7 is $1,999 for the 256GB, $2,119 for the 512GB, and $2,419 for the 1TB. These prices are a little pricy when compared to other generations of phones and the improvements made.
Alternatives
Some alternatives include not getting a flip, or folding, or fancy phones. Normal phones on the market are powerful and have good software. These phones are still good. If you want a flip phone, there is the Google Pixel Fold or you can get the previous generation, the Z Fold 6.
Conclusion
Overall, if you want a phone that can give you extra screen real estate and has the software of one of the best phone companies, and is ultra-thin, this phone ticks all the boxes. However, I think unless a fold phone with a good camera is a necessity, the previous generation is more worth your money. Overall, the Z Fold 7 is not worth it, but what do you think?
